The Common European Framework of Reference, was compiled on the initiative of the Council of Europe with the aim of achieving greater uniformity and transparency in foreign language learning amongst the European member states. This serves to improve mobility within the member states, to make it easier to recognise each other´s language certificates, and to promote co-operation between educational establishments in the various countries.
The Common European Framework of Reference defines attainment levels for identifying language proficiency in the fields of communicative proficiency, active and receptive skills, and language proficiency for specific tasks. An overview shows the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference and their equivalents in German language examinations.
