Alumni from developing countries - Partners for the food industry

75 experts from the Nutrition and agricultural sector come to Germany by invitation from the DAAD to become informed about the newest developments in Food technology and to make contacts. They all have something in common, as they have all studied at German universities and are now leading heads of Economy and Science in their home countries. The first station for the 75 alumni from 26 different developing countries is advanced training, in the structure of an Alumni Summer School. At the Universities of Göttingen, Hannover, und Hohenheim the participants have the opportunity to learn about current trends, the newest results of scientific research as well as to meet each other in Cologne and Bonn to swap results, have discussions and to make contacts.

Knowledge gains a Forum
On the 4 th of April 2006 the Alumni create an Alumni Forum at the DAAD in Bonn to which all interested parties from Universities, Science and Development political organisations are cordially invited.

Visit to Anuga FoodTec: Experts meet Experts
The next event in the programme is a visit to Anuga FoodTec (5. – 7. April 2006), where participants can be informed about proposals from the Food industry and possibilities of collaboration.

What opportunities for co-operation are there for firms in Asia, Africa or Latin America? What challenges loom for the Food industry in these regions? How can initiatives be realised in these areas? These questions and many more can be discussed with experts at the exhibition, in the Forum “Food industry and Developing Countries: Chances and Challenges” on the 7 th of April 2006. The developing countries forum will also be supported by the German Agricultural Association (DLG).

This “Alumni Project” is part of an initiative started by the DAAD to get experts from places with local economy representatives and scientists to engage in debates to initiate additional possibilities of collaborative work , as well as to support world-wide subject networks.
