DAAD Alumni Summer schools in the structure of special projects
Many academics from developing countries have acquired a high level of technical competence through their studies in Germany. They need platforms and opportunities to meet with representatives from Science, Politics and Economics, in order to build up relationships and to initiate projects. Therefore the relations of the German Universities to their Alumni from Developing countries has a unique importance.
Since 2004, the DAAD has invited experts from developing countries to Germany for specialised events. The experts have the opportunity to find out about the newest scientific research results, to exchange country specific problems, and the opportunity to make contacts. The topics of the advance training courses are based around the Millennium Development Goals which were resolved in the year 2000 by the United Nations.
Specialised fairs present another suitable platform to get in to contact with potential partners. Through a DAAD initiative, 75 experts from developing countries will visit Anaga FoodTec to inform providers of Food Technology about possibilities of co-operative work. For September, a visit is planned for another group of specialists from developing countries to the European Photo-Voltaic Conference in Dresden.
The main objective of the DAAD is to offer a platform on which the desired lasting contact can be initiated and fostered.
