Membership
Full members of the registered association are: the higher education institutions affiliated to the Association of Universities and other Higher Education Institutions in Germany (Hochschulrektorenkonferenz - HRK), and the student bodies enrolled at these higher education institutions. Natural persons or legal entities (corporate bodies) may become associate members.
Annual General Meeting
The General Assembly of Members will convene once a year for its Annual General Meeting to be held by 31 July at the latest. The Annual General Meeting decides on all the affairs of the registered association apart from those areas of responsibility which the articles of association (statutes) expressly transfer to other decision-making bodies.
Representation within the General Assembly of Members
1. The following are represented and have voting rights within the General Assembly of Members:
- 81 universities, technical universities, colleges
of education and comprehensive universities
which are entitled to award doctorates and the
habilitation (the professorial teaching qualification)
to members of most of their faculties/departments;
- 36 Fachhochschule institutions (Baden-Württemberg 4, Bavaria 4, Berlin 2, Brandenburg 1, Bremen 1, Hamburg 2, Hesse 4, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania 1, Lower Saxony 2, North Rhine-Westphalia 7, Rhineland-Palatinate 2, Saarland 1, Saxony 2, Saxony-Anhalt 1, Schleswig-Holstein 1, Thuringia 1),
- one college of education from Baden-Württemberg,
- one art college/academy and one music college/conservatory,
- one Catholic and one Protestant college,
- one other higher education institution.
2. Besides these institutions, the student bodies enrolled at the voting higher education institutions specified in Section 1 are represented and entitled to one vote each within the General Assembly of Members.
